Brothers Road
We are delighted to welcome Richard Wyler, Founder and Executive Director of Brothers Road.
Brothers on a Road Less Travelled (“Brothers Road”) is a non-profit, multi-faith, international fellowship of men who experience same-sex-attractions but who do not identify with the label “gay” and prefer instead to explore and address underlying issues and live in accordance with our faith. The organisation is broadly faith-affirming and welcoming of men who are Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or of other faiths.
In 1997, at the age of 35, Rich Wyler entered therapy for extreme distress over same-sex attractions and out-of-control sexual behaviors. He was in crisis — his self-esteem shattered, his marriage teetering on collapse, thoughts of suicide intensifying.
Two years later, after weekly individual and group therapy, Twelve Step work, deep emotional work in a men’s personal-growth network, personal mentoring, and a meaningful spiritual journey with pastoral counseling, Rich completed his professional therapy sessions — vastly happier, more at peace, and sexually sober. His marriage was thriving. His self-esteem was greatly improved. He had built a network of supportive, authentic friendships unlike anything he’d previously experienced. His same-sex attraction felt like a mere shadow of the former power it had held over his life.
Rich will also discuss about the first Journey into Manhood weekend designed for Muslim/Arab audience in Istanbul, Turkey from 18th to 20th August 2023. Register here.
The Journey Into Manhood weekend experience is designed especially for men to address internal conflicts over their sexuality. It is neither “pro-gay” nor “anti-gay.” It is not a “gay-to-straight” intervention. It is not about “converting” anyone. Rather, it is about helping men find peace and self-acceptance, embrace their masculinity and live in integrity with their faith and values.
The workshop is immersive and residential, meaning participants stay on-site for two-and-a-half days and two nights. Accommodations and meals are included in the fee for the workshop, from dinner on Friday through lunch on Sunday. The program is experiential, which means we help men explore through experience, not lecture, preaching, or “therapy.” Activities include journalling, introspective questions, and emotional processing.
Date: Sunday 11th June 2023
Time: 8pm (BST), 3pm (EDT)
