Conversion Therapy Round Table
The government has decided to bring forth legislation to ban conversion therapy practices to change sexual orientation. It includes non-physical “conversion therapy” which the government refers to as “talking conversion therapy”. It fully bans such talking therapy for under-18s.
However, the government clarifies also that it aims to protect freedom of speech and clinicians’ independence at the same time. It ensures people of faith can access support.
The government declares that one of the complexities is of those who experience gender dysphoria may seek legitimate talking therapy. It is vital that legitimate support is not inadvertently impacted. However, is it not legitimate to ask for talking therapy for sexual conflict?
