Same-Sex Attraction, OCD and Emotional Integration

We are pleased to be joined by Michael Gasparro, M.A. for this webinar. You may have heard from Michael in his podcast with Waheed Jensen where he discussed the reintegrative therapy model. In this webinar, we will be discussing OCD in the context of same-sex attractions. We discuss how individuals might be obsessed with recovery from SSA. We discuss the raw responses of our emotions and how we integrate those emotions into our understanding of ourselves.

Michael is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who practices at Breakthrough Clinic in Encino, CA.  Michael works at the Breakthrough Clinic under the supervision of Licensed Clinical Psychologist Dr. Joseph Nicolosi Jr.

Michael is passionate about the intersection of faith and psychology. Michael provides therapy for dating, engaged, and married couples using treatment interventions that are both well supported by research and supportive of Catholic teaching on marriage and sexual morality. He also works with individual adults on a wide variety of issues and offers therapy for children and adolescents to address behavioral issues, addiction, trauma, and more.

Michael first began his ministry work in the Catholic Church as a music minister but transitioned to involvement in other ministries within the church such as spending several years as the Confirmation Ministry Coordinator at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Los Angeles, CA.

Michael graduated with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was a member of the Delta Kapa Honor Society. He has received his Level 1 and Level 2 Training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, which is often utilized to treat trauma-based disorders such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder among many other mental health issues as well. He has also received his training to be a certified facilitator of the Prepare/Enrich Pre-Martial Counseling Method.
