Taqwa over Queer
We are excited to be welcoming our next guest Dr Parvez Mandviwala from Mumbai, India. TAQueer is an online/offline community support group for God-fearing Muslims struggling with homosexual urges. The initiative promotes choosing Taqwa over Queer. In this webinar, we discuss what prompted Dr Mandviwala to create TAQueer and the barriers faced by Muslims seeking help. His recently introductory book A Crescent in The Rainbow looks at the terms used by the LGBTQ community and an Islamic approach to male same-sex attraction.

Dr Parvez Mandviwala, Director of TAQueer – Choosing Taqwa over Queer. resides in Mumbai, India. He is a Dental Surgeon by profession, graduating from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He is the author of ‘Chiseled Perceptions’ (Published by Huda Publications, Hyderabad in 2017), the How and Why of Dawah (2021) and has compiled a comprehensive index of the Holy Qur’an titled: ‘Furqan- A Practical Index of the Holy Qur’an (2008). Dr Manviwala has also translated several books and articles from Urdu to English on socio-religious topics.
Dr Mandviwala is the National Vice President of the Medical Service Society (MSS) and also the representative at Islamic Information Centre (Pan-India Dawah organization). He has presented a paper at the 35th International Islamic Unity Conference, Tehran, Iran among other colloquia.
